state. An offline disk exposes no <span><a href="8eef5d42-22d7-4302-aed9-12face91505a#gt_9a876829-33a1-4f0b-8b81-8552b7e5561c" data-linktype="relative-path">volume</a></span> devices.</p><dl>

to indicate success or return an implementation-specific nonzero error code to
indicate failure. For the HRESULT values predefined by the Virtual Disk Service
Remote Protocol, see section <span><a href="5102cc53-3143-4268-ba4c-6ea39e999ab4" data-linktype="relative-path">2.2.3</a></span>.</p><p><b>ERROR_SUCCESS(0x00000000)</b></p><p>The server MUST bring the disk to the offline state by
removing the volume objects for any volumes with associated extents on the
given disk. The server MUST send volume removal notifications for any volume
objects that are removed as a result of bringing the disk to an offline state.
The server MUST then return an HRESULT indicating failure or success. For more
information on the <span><a href="1f2c2038-e967-49f6-9365-c7ac47abb496" data-linktype="relative-path">VDS_FILE_SYSTEM_PROP</a></span>
structure, see 2.2.1.3.17.</p></div>
